The Ayurvedic benefits of Neem are well known throughout history. This medium to large sized tree grows all over India and its seeds and leaves have a particularly well- known bitter taste. Neem is also known as the Indian Lilac and it is very fair to say that this tree is an integral part of Ayurvedic medicine.

Medical uses

The neem leaf is used in the treatment of many diseases that include leprosy, nose bleeds, eye disorders, intestinal worms, diseases of the heart, diseases of the blood vessels, diabetes, and gum diseases. The most notable and popular use of neem is for its skin benefits and it is used as a natural toothbrush in traditional Indian homes.

Neem is referred to as the wonder leaf by some and is considered sacred by many.

Antifungal

As an antifungal, neem is excellent. The leaves are made into a paste and used as such, or used as an ingredient along with other medicinal plants in medicinal preparations.

Antibacterial

The antibacterial properties of neem keep skin infections at bay. Neem paste hence, takes care of mild cuts and burns.

Clears pigmentation

Neem has the power to clear dark spots on the skin and clear pigmentation.

Prevents acne

Taking a bath in water boiled with neem leaves and orange peel can prevent an acne breakout.

Treats skin dryness

Neem is able to reintroduce moisture that has been lost, into the skin. This makes Neem very important, especially in the Indian summers.
